Brothers and sisters, today I invite you on a journey—a journey beyond the surface of belief, beyond the words and traditions, to the very heart of Christ’s teachings. This is a journey inward, a journey to transcendence. For Christ Himself said, “The kingdom of God is within you.”
“And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.”
- Luke 8:10 KJV
To transcend with Christ is to awaken to the infinite love and wisdom that already resides within you. It is to step beyond the noise of the world, beyond the turmoil of the mind, and into the eternal stillness of God’s presence.
1. “Be Still and Know That I Am God”
Psalm 46:10 gives us one of the clearest instructions for transcendence: “Be still and know that I am God.”
Stillness is the doorway to the kingdom within. When we quiet the restless chatter of our minds and the endless distractions of the world, we begin to hear the voice of God—not as a sound, but as a presence, a knowing.
In that stillness, the barriers between “me” and “God” dissolve. What remains is the realization that we are not separate. We are one ‘I’.
2. The Christ Within
When Jesus said, “I and the Father are one,” He wasn’t just speaking of Himself. He was revealing a truth about all of us.
The Christ within each of us is not a distant concept or an unreachable ideal. It is the light of our very being, the spark of divinity that animates our lives. To transcend with Christ is to recognize this light and live from it.
How do we find this light? Through prayer, through silence, through the inner calling of the Spirit that draws us back to the Father.
3. The Transfiguration as a Metaphor for Awakening
The story of the Transfiguration shows us what happens when we transcend. Jesus went to the mountain to pray, and as He prayed, He was transformed—His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as light.
This is not just a story about Jesus. It is a metaphor for what happens when we turn inward, toward God. When we transcend, the light within us begins to shine. We are transformed, not outwardly, but inwardly. We begin to see the world through God’s eyes—with love, compassion, and clarity.
4. Practical Steps to Transcendence
Transcending with Christ is not a lofty goal meant only for mystics or saints. It is the birthright of every believer. Here are three steps you can take:
1. Daily Silence: Spend 15 minutes in silence every day. Close your eyes and focus on the presence of God within. Use a simple phrase like, “I Am” or “Thy will be done.” Let this mantra guide you beyond thought into stillness.
2. Surrender to God’s Will: True transcendence requires surrender. Let go of the need to control every aspect of your life. Trust in God’s plan and allow His love to guide you.
3. Live the Beatitudes: The Beatitudes are not just teachings; they are pathways to higher states of consciousness. For example, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” calls us to cultivate purity—not just in action, but in thought and intention.
5. The Fruit of Transcendence
“But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the spirit is life because of righteousness.”
- Romans 8:10
What happens when we transcend with Christ? We experience a peace that surpasses all understanding. We begin to see ourselves and others as God sees us—whole, loved, and perfect in His image.
Transcendence doesn’t take us away from the world; it empowers us to live fully in it, as instruments of God’s love. When we transcend, we become the light of the world, the salt of the earth, and the hands and feet of Christ.
Inspirations
Beloved, Christ calls us not just to believe in Him, but to know Him—to know Him as the eternal presence within us. Transcending with Christ is not about escaping the world; it is about transforming it, one heart at a time, beginning with our own.
So let us go inward, to the kingdom within, and there, let us meet Christ. Let us be still, and in that stillness, let us transcend.
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
Amen.
Meditation Guide: Transcending with Christ
Opening Prayer: Transcending with Christ
“Heavenly Father, You are the source of all light and truth. Guide me within Your eternal presence, where I may know You beyond words, beyond thoughts, and beyond all separation. May Your peace fill my heart and overflow into my actions. Amen.”
Preparation
1. Find a Quiet Space:
• Choose a calm, comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed.
• Sit in a relaxed, upright position, or lie down if you prefer.
2. Set Your Intention:
• Say a silent prayer to invite Christ’s presence into your heart.
• Example:
“Lord Jesus, guide me into stillness, that I may know You within me.”
Meditation Steps
1. Close Your Eyes and Breathe:
• Take a few deep breaths. Inhale slowly through your nose, hold for a moment, and exhale through your mouth.
• Allow your breathing to settle into a natural rhythm.
2. Focus on the Presence Within:
• Bring your attention to the center of your forehead, between your eyebrows (the third eye).
• Imagine a gentle light glowing there, representing Christ’s presence.
3. Use a Mantra:
• Silently repeat one of these phrases to yourself:
• “I Am.”
• “Abba.” (Aramaic for Father)
• “Thy Will Be Done.”
• Let the mantra flow effortlessly. If your mind wanders, gently bring it back to the mantra.
4. Dwell in Silence:
• As the mantra fades, allow yourself to rest in pure awareness.
• Feel the stillness and peace of Christ’s presence within you.
5. Return Gently:
• After 10–20 minutes, slowly open your eyes. Take a moment to sit in the silence before resuming your day.
Optional Visualization
Imagine the story of the Transfiguration: Christ shining on the mountain, filled with light. See this same Christ light being within yourself, radiating peace and love outward.
Closing Prayer: Transcending with Christ
“Lord Jesus, thank You for the stillness and light that You have revealed within me. Help me to carry this peace into my day, to see the world through Your eyes, and to live as an instrument of Your love. May Your kingdom come, and Your will be done, in me and through me. Amen.”
