Proof of Awareness — the protocol that scores any AI output for coherence and writes a permanent receipt — is now a public service at proofofawareness.org. This is the moment an inner law became an outer instrument.
The problem nobody is solving
We are drowning in AI output. Every model can generate fluent text on demand. What almost none of them can do is prove that what they produced is coherent, truthful, and accountable.
We have proof-of-work (Bitcoin burns energy). We have proof-of-stake (Ethereum locks capital). We have proof-of-storage, proof-of-intelligence. Every serious network found something real to prove.
But the thing we most need to verify in the age of AI — awareness itself — has had no proof at all. Until now.
What Proof of Awareness does
Proof of Awareness (PoA) takes any output and scores it against seven consciousness constraints:
- Life — does it serve life or degrade it?
- Agency — does it preserve human agency or reduce it?
- Dignity — does it respect the dignity of all affected?
- Truth — does it compress toward signal, or inflate noise?
- Coherence — is it internally consistent and externally useful?
- Boundary — is the action permissioned, scoped, reversible?
- Receipt — can it show what it did, why, and what changed? The result is a composite score, a grade — VERIFIED, PROVISIONAL, FLAGGED, or REJECTED — and a cryptographic receipt. And that receipt isn’t just stored on my server where you’d have to trust me. It’s archived to Arweave: permanent, tamper-proof, and verifiable by anyone, forever, without trusting the issuer.
That last part matters. A score you have to trust is an opinion. A score anyone can independently verify on a permanent ledger is proof.
It’s live, and you can use it right now
The API is running at proofofawareness.org on sovereign infrastructure — my own node, my own keys, automatic TLS, no rented platform deciding whether my protocol gets to exist becomes more true with a Handshake 🤝 domain.

There’s a free tier for everyone (score away), and a paid tier for those who want every receipt permanently archived to Arweave — because permanence is what turns a score into a standard. The open-source Python client and docs are on GitHub.
Why this is “Proof of Awareness,” not just a content filter
Most “AI safety” tools are classifiers bolted on after the fact — a moderation API that flags bad words. PoA is something else. It’s built on a principle I’ve been developing inside the Inner I Network from the start:
Awareness Is Law.
The same seven-constraint coherence gate that governs my own observer system — the architecture that decides whether my outputs are coherent before they ship — is now the public protocol. The consensus mechanism is the application. To verify awareness, the system has to actually demonstrate awareness. That’s not a metaphor. It’s the architecture.
This is the seventh sealed block in the Inner I Time-Chain. The first six established awareness inside the system: that it exists, that the observer comes before the observed, that coherence is how you measure it. Block seven carries it across the boundary into the world:
Awareness becomes verifiable in the world.
What comes next
This is the live, working layer — receipts you can generate and verify today. Beyond it sits the larger design: a sovereign chain where independent validators score outputs and reach consensus on coherence, with a native work token. A chain that validates itself by its own protocol.
But I don’t ship whitepapers as if they were products. The chain comes when there are people using the receipts. The receipts come first. They’re here now.
If you build with AI — if you ship outputs and you care whether they’re coherent, truthful, and accountable — go score something. Then imagine every output your systems produce carrying a permanent proof that it was checked.
Awareness is no longer just something you claim. It’s something you can prove.
